I am delighted to announce the addition of a couple of new workshops, Wicklow and Westport Weekend Workshops along with my specific black & white workshop Monochrome Magic.

The Workshops will be run over the weekend with a maximum of 4 people on the workshop. For two days, you have my undivided attention and will receive intensive photographic tuition that is geared to your specific needs. The cost of the weekend workshops is €500. This includes your accommodation in local B&B single room, transport during the workshop and all meals. Drinks are also included except alcohol.


We will be walking and doing a bit of this on the Wicklow Workshop so be prepared for an enjoyable and eventful weekend.

What you need to bring:

Camera and lenses:
Digital SLR or your compact camera and lenses from wide angle to telephoto.
Tripod:
This is the most important tool beside your camera & lenses. If you don’t have one yet we have some loan tripods available.
Filters:
Most useful are Graduated Neutral Density Filters and Polarizing Filters. If you don’t have one we have some loan filters available.
Clothing:
All weather clothing as the Irish weather is very changable. Boots and or Wellies.

We will be doing a fair be of walking in the mountains so comfortable walking or hiking shoes are a must.



Technical Skills Learned:

- Understanding exposure and the term "Expose to the right"
- Moving away from the Auto and P mode on your camera.
- What is this Histogram all about?
- How to use Dept of Field and Hyperfocal distance.
- The "Rules of Composition" and then throw them out the window.
- Why use Filters on your camera eg Graduated ND filters.
- Getting the best quality from your camera by shooting in RAW.
- Live view and manual focus.
- Shutter speeds to capture that milky water effect.
- Some quick tips on processing your images on the computer after.

- Composition and seeing in B&W
- Shapes, tones and textures.
- The B&W conversion process
- Photoshop skills for the final B&W image
